Human culture is treated as this kind of exotic oddity in a way which I think is quite revealing if you're white and not used to seeing your culture constantly being appropriated. There's no respect shown to it whatsoever, just this bizarre fetishization that demeans and misunderstands the object of its desire. This is a 'benevolent alien occupation', but the aliens are here to consume humanity - not our meat, but our very essence.
