I somewhat agree with @torvalds@social.kernel.org on his recent AI statement.
LLMs for programming tasks are useful - for the time being.
Are they economically viable? Probably not.
Are they sustainable? Hell no.
Are they copyright infringement? Most likely.
But this is not what Torvalds is talking about. This guy just wants to make his Kernel better.
I fully expect LLM providers to enshittify the living hell out of these things to recoup their insane investments. They won't stay useful.

@fell@ma.fellr.net @torvalds@social.kernel.org The main reason I'm reluctant to use these is the "power dynamics" with having to go through a big tech giant to use the actually useful models. Also the intrinsic error rate, but that seems to slowly be going down.
