@CiaraNi@mastodon.green I use environmental or ecological breakdown/collapse. I stopped to use "climate" because 1) climate is one of the planetary systems 2) it's one of the most complex systems, and impossible to govern 3) the major driver is the destruction of the land/water environment due to anthropogenic activity, from extractive industry to constant urbanisation. Point 3 is the part of the discourse directly dependent on our action: we can't control the rain, but we can avoid wiping out another forest.

@alx@mastodon.design All of that makes sense and is good. In casual social small talk, especially in general social situations rather than longer conversations with personal friends, I would just like to see the word 'crisis' and the topic generally brought into the conversation. It's being deliberately (as I believe) ignored, so even before the nuances, it'd be a start to see it talked about socially at all.
