Don't be surprised when people who might vote for your party just don't bother to vote.
You didn't give them a reason to bother when the country is a two party monopoly where both parties promise to shit on would be Dem voters?
Hey, lending your support to someone who promises to treat you like garbage is sort of... I dunno... Humiliating?
Who the fuck wastes their time doing THAT when their time is already maxed out just trying earn enough to pay rent and not starve?

@timberwraith@mastodon.social I spent a few years studying the US Civil War, and one thing that really struck me was how the Republican Party rose because it articulated and supported the material interests of Free Soilers. That is, people supported the party offering them more of what they wanted than any other. The contrast with bullying people into voting Democratic today is stark.
