Some folks say the data center scrap won't be useful after the collapse. Like WTF do we do with soldered on HBM and NAND? Useless, right? But wait. There's more! In China, there are profitable shops that do crazy shit like making a 22GB 3080 or whatever. Well, those shops will have killer inventory after the pop. You know those Chinese ALIExpress outfits that sell old laptop GPUs on desktop cards? Shit like that? Now think about the overlap....thoughts?

    @Lydie@tech.lgbt HBM is mounted to the chip substrate not the PCB, it's not really possible to rework practically unless you're making your own silicon interposer and even if you did I'm not sure how you'd extract it without destroying it. If you can reuse the whole chip package including the HBM and whatever it's attached to different story. But you can't like put it on a DIMM or something.
