Sorry, I'm grumpy, so I'm wanging on, but...
The new system being rolled out at work (and compliance with cybersecurity essentials with a view towards attaining ISO 27001) requires the use of an authenticator app.
Quiet Colleague is not the kind of person who cares about technology and computers, but he muddles along, causing no fuss. His phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 that's running Android 6.0.1. He doesn't need it to do more than that. He uses it for phone calls and the very, very occasional SMS.
But it won't run the MS authenticator app, which our man here is convinced we need. So he can't be logged in to a new MS365 account.
When the boss was informed of this, he took the attitude that it's our responsibility to have an up to date phone...to access work stuff.
Rather than put his hand in his fucking pocket to the tune of the cost of a cheap-ass Android that'll run Android 10 or newer, he'd rather just be a prick.
So Quiet Colleague will just keep on trucking along, entirely unbothered. And fair play to him.
Meanwhile, I've been tasked with trying to put LineageOS on the S5. Let's say I'm on about £25 an hour, and it takes me 5 hours to figure out, how many cheap-ass Android phones running Android 10 or newer could you buy for that?
Like I said, I'm just so fucking tired.

The Great Enfuckening has begun. There's a new PC on my desk, and it's setting up Windows 11 and oh god, this is gonna suck ass.
