When we lived in Japan, the exchange rate was roughly 100 yen to the dollar, which made shopping pretty easy. “Oh this is about five dollars."

    Nearly everything sold in Japan shows its retail price. So you could glance at something imported into the US and see what the domestic price was. It’s fair to charge more to import something, but sometimes products was outrageously marked up. No thank you haha
