These are the elevator buttons where I work. Both have blind-accessible Braille text. The down-arrow text means "down". The up arrow text is also four characters, so, what could it mean? Uppp? High? NO! It means: Someone just took the down button, turned it 180 degrees, and slapped it on. 😅 So, at least from my amateurish knowledge...it means nothing. Sure, you can abstract that the "not down" button means up. And I also think the arrows themselves can easily be felt but...that's damn stupid? That...that's not the way stuff is handled, right? You can't just turn Braille upside down?! I really wonder if I should...report this somewhere, but I have no clue if we have any accessibility responsible person. 😅 #Accessibility #Braille

@BryanGreyson@social.tchncs.de Let me guess. The elevator also does not beep inside for each floor even on floors it doesn't stop at (very common), like it should.

@BryanGreyson@social.tchncs.de To me it looks like the box with the 'up' buttons got mixed in with the 'down' buttons, and some tech that didn't know the difference just put it where they thought it should be. :) Admittedly, if it were Japanese or Arabic or Hindi, I wouldn't know which oritentation to put their script in. :D

I just checked, it's only on this floor. The others have correct ones labeled with Braille "UP".

I'm in no position at this company to call the actual elevator maintainer, but I'll let maintenance know and see if they care. No, I did not find an elevator with two "UPs" so far. 😁😅

@BryanGreyson@social.tchncs.de Do they do elevator inspections there? It might be worth asking whatever authority presides over that what can be done to get a proper "Up" button on that elevator.
