@swggrkllr3rd@mastodon.world I was riffing on the sad confidence of the fella in “When the Wind Blows” (1982) by Raymond Briggs. As he and his missus wasted away in the ruins of their home after a nuclear attack he was confident “the authorities” would know what to do and would soon be coming.
