If The US government condemns the genocide of Palestinians, it invites uncomfortable questions about itself. The US is about 57% white, and less than 1% american indian, alaskan native, and native hawaiian/pacific islander (combined). So any condemnation of Israel, or support of Palestinians - or, Palestine as a state - needs to be done very carefully (From the US state's perspective), For the same reason the Nuremburg Trials had to reject a tu quoque defense.
