I didn't connect, till it was stated in the end, that Visaggio wrote Eternity Girl, one part of Gerard Way's abortive attempt to prod DC into doing bold Vertigo-style comics again. in retrospect it makes a lot of things about that book snap into place.

after having a pretty retraumatizing experience and a subsequent week of really violent intrusive thoughts, the complexity of "I don't feel sorry for feeling this way, but I do feel upset at what it means about who I've become" resonates a lot.
