@log@mastodon.sdf.org If we were to nationalize, or even not bother with that but just hire civil servants for all the positions otherwise filled by contractors supplied through primes like SAIC or BAH, the budget becomes a problem because a civil servant is a billet, or long term federal budget item, whereas a contractor is just a person who at any moment may be no longer needed by the agency. Also the management load of personnel and pay functions is shunted off to the contractor not the govt...so basically my thoughts on nationalizing SpaceX are pretty specific to the unique situation of SpaceX. @RickiTarr@beige.party
