For more than a decade, farmers have been fighting for the right to fix the machines they own. Now, the FTC settlement with John Deere marks a massive win! Deere must give farmers and independent repair shops access to the same repair software, manuals, and repair capabilities it provides to authorized dealers. This is what Right to Repair looks like when it moves from principle to enforcement. The work is not over, but this is a big step. @iFixit@mastodon.social it's very weird to hear good news coming out of America. Did John Deere get behind on their bribe payments or something?

Yeah, if that could apply to the less rich too, that'd be awesome. It's definitely a start!

Yes. Indeed that is an important step, in the right direction. Needless to say, this must apply to all manufacturers. And every device and machine must be repairable, within reasonable, but very broad limits. @iFixit@mastodon.social
