Buildings often have a structure covering a stairwell with a door protecting the stairwell from the elements but still allowing folks to go in and out of it.
Provided, you know, the usual stuff with doors like are they locked, blocked, etc.
Finding a reasonable name for that in 2026 is nigh impossible. The closest reasonable way I found to describe it is "roof access." Pretty sure readers will get that in the context I'm providing whereas other terms seem to cover a much wider range of things and would be unclear to readers.
