This seems like the money quote: "current AI systems excel at assembling known techniques and optimizing toward measurable success criteria, while struggling with the open-ended generalization required for production-quality systems." The overall point seems to be that the production of the new compiler implementation is a remarkable accomplishment, but the result is not actually all that useful. Since refactoring the whole mess will be less annoying to a machine than humans, perhaps CCC will have a new release that blows other C compilers away.
