This is a sad example of why you can't trust corporates. Solar Zero's business model was a good one. But they took funding from vampires (blackrock) who demanded a very high growth rate to drive very high returns. When Solar Zero failed to keep up Blackrock pulled its money causing Solar Zero to collapse. Customers are now trapped in long contracts with some random company that has bought the wreckage. I wouldn't be surprised if the random company has found its bought crap also, anecdotes about what SZ were up to just before they went bust were not at all good. I feel with patient capital and management that cares this could be turned into a good news story of helping people out of a hole. But patient capital is a bit of an oxymoron...
