I know "vote with your wallet" has serious limits because it would take a lot of us boycotting the evil thing to offset just one billionaire supporting the evil thing and that usually isn't viable.
But I'd suggest there is still significant benefit in trying to align your spending (and corollary, your data) with your values.
You feel better when you aren't constantly feeling like you're contradicting your own sense of values. I'm sure I've seen research on this, especially around environmental things. Yes, most of the harm comes from a few giant corporations and you recycling is a drop in the bucket. But there is big personal wellbeing value in feeling like you're living out of your values instead of going against them. And the more you do the little things to line up with your values, the easier it is to do the big things.
