We have a long way to climb out of this hole. A woman who spent over a quarter century in Singapore told me that in their school system, aptitude/IQ tests were used on students at a very early stage in their schooling...to identify those who are gifted/"have it"...and those students were fast-tracked to get better/elite education to prepare them to manage/govern the nation, be heads of various organizations, etc. I suppose that's one way to address this situation, but it's far from egalitarian.
