In January, I finally made my first zine and Roll the Zine – a board and card game fanzine — was born.
Yesterday's panel discussion about zines at #Finncon got me thinking about the hobby so I wrote down some initial thoughts after the first 7 months.

@hamatti@mastodon.world I see zines (at least those few that I'm familiar with) as a return towards the slower side of content consumption, where ideas and opinions don't need to be crafted to fit inside a strict character limit that is reduced further by a bunch of hashtags or whatever, but can instead be allowed to breathe, and where the creator's personality can be better felt. I could drop game recommendations in various comments that'll get lost to the scroll, or I could write their story somewhere.
