When I was in high school, PBS broadcast Sherman’s March, the Ross McIlwee documentary. It blew my mind.
Somehow, mysteriously, the local PBS affiliate had an equipment room in our high school (???), and the next day I found someone to run me off a VHS dub of the movie.
People always talk about life-changing moments, but for real, it’s kind of amazing that I can pin this one down.

Side note: the last Full Frame Documentary Film Festival was a total drag, and I think I’m done with it for good. Learning that they could have booked this movie but didn’t just seals the deal.
