@Bfordham@infosec.exchange I think the rules are more obvious and easy to spot in the South, honestly. They’re well-documented and everyone knows them. The euphemisms haven’t changed … ever? I think there’s an insidiousness in the more modern amorphous gatekeeping. It’s hard to point to. Maybe that’s just me not being as familiar with it.

    @kpl@social.lol no I think that’s all fair. Regardless, it’s no good. I mean, I get some of it. “Let’s not mention grandpa’s toxic farts at the wake” or what have you. And personally I’m not going to picket someone’s funeral where people who do love someone would be. But not speak the truth? Especially about a public figure? Nah. Or an abuser, or whatever.
