Separate from "Should we ban Black users for not being sufficiently happy that their abuser can't hurt them anymore" is the discourse around "Should Dem politicians say nice things about their 'colleagues' when they pass?"
This is complicated, and tied in to the nature of racism in the US.

No one expected Dem pols to say nice things about Bin Laden when he passed. Because he attacked Americans, and was not considered a colleague. Similarly, no one was expected to say nice things about the premier of any nation that the US was at war with. But if the British queen passed, they were. It comes down to two important questions: 1) Who is an "us," and who is a "them?" And 2) Are there any irredeemable acts that an "us" could do, that would prevent us from saying nice things about them when they pass? Is there any limit? The US history of racism leads to some weird answers here.🤷🏿♂️
