this is so transparently an attempt to lay the groundwork for a government bailout of this failing industry.

has there ever been a time in history when a prominent figure in a successful, money-printing American capitalist enterprise stepped out into the public spotlight and said "the state needs to socialize our profits"? no. it has never happened, and it will never happen. the reason he's calling for this now is because the AI industry doesn't **have** any profits, and it won't have any profits for a long time, if ever. he's asking the state to socialize the losses.
