I don't know what's involved with recovering your property or the financial sum you'd be owed once the court rules in your favor. Maybe the court can send Sheriff Deputies to recover it? Or maybe you are stuck trying to sell it for pennies on the dollar to a debt collector. It's worth some digging. I also wonder whether the defendant would end up with a bench warrant if they fail to appear or cooperate. Even if you get nothing out of it, maybe ensuring there are tangible consequences for misconduct has its own intrinsic value.
