Welp, I discovered how some slopcoders are hiding their tracks: by not using GitHub. See, it's pretty easy to fingerprint a repo where Claude is used on GitHub, just block Claude (the user) and you'll get a warning on each repo it touched. You uh, can't do that on GitLab. QSOE Systems has been doing some actually interesting stuff involving RISC-V OS development, taking cues from ye olde QNX and the IBM PC. But in this day and age you need to be leery of projects like these, because people are using AI to slop their way into making these projects. And their flagship QSOE OS looks like the real thing. But what about any of their other projects? Well, they have a project, the GateMate PC, which is a FPGA-based PC-esque RISC-V computing platform, complete with BIOS, I/O interfaces, and a work-in-progress DOS-like OS. It's hosted on GitLab, and there's no obvious tells that it's slop. It's only if you scroll to the very bottom of the readme that the only thing that the lead developer did was come up with the idea and the architecture; everything else about the project (aside from the RISC-V softcore) was credited to Anthropic's Claude. And now all of their other projects, including the U-Boot extension that Phoronix just posted an article about, are probably slop as well. :blobfoxgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:
