@ben@werd.social I don’t follow. From a pure realpolitik standpoint, Dems should *want* the Senate seat that would normally command another GOP vote to be held by an absent/non-voting GOP senator. If MM is dead, the GOP should want to get the special under way because their odds of winning are good. And Beshear should drag his heels if there IS a death/resignation before Aug. 3 because the KY statute sets no deadline for Beshear to proclaim a special election.

@20002ist@thepit.social @ben@werd.social Apparently the worry for the Rs is if Mitch is most sincerly dead and a special election is held, it makes an opportunity for someone like Massie (well, actually, specifically Massie) to get his seat.
