Rabbits are indirectly connected to the festival's principal god, Susanoo (スサノオ).
His son-in-law, Ōkuninushi (大国主), came to the help of the flayed 'Hare of Inaba' (因幡の白兎). After revealing himself to be a god, the hare married Okuninushi to Yakami, princess of Inaba.

🦗Tōrō-yama's (蟷螂山) yukata is emblazoned with roses and praying mantises. The pattern was created in 2021 by the son of the dyer (and living national treasure) Hata Tokio (羽田登喜男 d.2008). It celebrates the 40th anniversary of the float's refresh.
