Trying to retcon "slop" to refer to quality is thus, to my mind, necessarily also an effort to avoid three much more important and direct criticisms of AI products.

@xgranade@wandering.shop I think it's also helpful to keep in mind that this is not *entirely* a retcon. The term was definitely coined with an eye towards being pejorative about quality. They're not exactly "redefining" it, they're just… pushing on the definition, instrumentalizing its vagueness

So it's getting much worse, rapidly, even now. - The "productivity benefits," as actually measured, are mostly negative. - It trashes your products, services, and customer relationships
