@alexchapman@vee.seedy.cc Licensing isn't that simple mate. Just because a company doesn't exist anymore doesn't mean that company's assets weren't sold to another company, or that the license just poof goes away. We just simply don't know, the license holder of DECtalk was never transparent about it's state and it's unclear where DECtalk's ownership currently stands, if anywhere. We may just never know.

@mewproj@fwoof.space @alexchapman@vee.seedy.cc IMPO, even though I have opinions about Eloquence, and such hosting not being taken down by Microsoft, I believe these types of synth laws bla bla bla, is something that each person has to decide for themselves. I won't pay the AppleTax to release something on the store, for example. I would worry about such things too as the person who was going to put this on the store. I await altstore or unlimited sidestore without a computer for non donation people.

@alexchapman@vee.seedy.cc To be clear: DECtalk's sourcecode was not put on github by anyone at Fonix or anything like that. It was an ex employee of DECtalk who gave the code to Jake, who gave the code to someone else, and then it ended up on github. Just because the org says DECtalk means nothing, someone has just created an org called DECtalk for convenience.

@mewproj@fwoof.space But that shouldn't mean that DECTalk can never be on Testflite/AppStore. If the license holder or holders actually don't give a flying fuck, then there's no reason for Apple to reject it. I actually looked at the issues and noticed that this situation hasn't even been brought up, which I'm surprised at.
