Discussing Trump with my American mother, who says she really dislikes him
but...
you've got to admit he's a great businessman
and he's really brought up his kids well
and Iran is horrible and the killing of their schoolchildren was an unfortunate mistake so holding it against Trump would be unfair.
I'm beginning to get the impression my mum doesn't dislike Trump as much as she thinks.

@davidnjoku@mastodon.world I think it is an interesting mindset - not that unusual, in various ways - who can hold "this person is a terrible person" and "they have done some good things, and say some things I agree with". Because hating Trump or Farage is the Right Thing, while actually wanting to agree with them and support the things they say and do is what people want to do. Because, at heart, they agree with their racist, fascist mindsets. But don't want to admit is.
