Jacob Rees-Mogg went on national radio and said that the people who died in the Grenfell Tower, did so because they lacked common sense by listening to the "stay put" order by the fire brigade.
He was not only defended for his remarks by the right-wing. But he was re-elected as a Tory MP in 2019, was still provided a regular platform by every media outlet in this country, and has his own show on GBeebies today.

Sticking with Grenfell, Reform's former housing minister Simon Dudley used the deaths there to argue that "everyone dies in the end", and that housing safety regulation brought in to make sure buildings didn't go up like a tinderbox and were safe for human habitation, had gone too far and were hindering house builders. He was defended vociferously online, right up until the point that Nigel Farage announced he was sacked. Everyone then towed the line about how he was a Richard Tice appointment.
