I don't want to redirect the BMC output. I just don't want the BIOS and early boot messages going to it, and AFAICT, this motherboard WILL NOT allow that to be changed, even though the manual claims it. The BIOS clearly has the ability to write to either the AST2600 VGA (an exposed PCIe device), or the discrete (a different PCIe device), and it can't be bothered to honor the documented switch setting.

@brouhaha@mastodon.social it kind of depends on what you mean by 'early boot messages', the very first messages it'll display aren't actually POST messages from the BIOS/CPU, they're raw system states (like those numbers on the mobo if your system has one of those numeric displays) that the BMC wraps in a pretty picture, such as 'initializing memory' etc. It SHOULD however be able to display the actual POST with further init, as in, as soon as the BIOS starts displaying output, but that could take a few secs.
