Which is a great illustration of the fact that debating is no way to get to truth. You can win a debate and be utterly wrong.

How do you separate a person from the points of view they publicly embrace? She had been called "charming" and "great fun to be around". The only way I can imagine seeing her like that is to treat her politics as "just a game" and ignore how they affect the people targeted by them.
