The challenge of being critical in talking about quantum computing: one must distrust corporate claims while also trusting the science *and* distrusting the journal publication system and the toxic sex pests who have found the clout of QC to be a useful cover for their exploitation.

The only way to really get informed about progress in QC is to go to a conference, find the three or four people in each group who are actually doing things, and then drink with them, then lending an empathetic ear to everything they're excited about but that corporate and academic politics get in the way of.
