@thesquirrelfish@sfba.social That's an interesting bag you have on the handlebars. Is it designed for that or is it a messenger bag you've repurposed or something?

@hyperlinkyourheart@mastodon.ie crossbody purse designed in an old fashioned postbag style. I brought everything for this journey (except the bike & rack) in one 'fit under the seat in front of me' carryon so have to improvise. I do find that classic practical design aesthetics frequently make things easier to improvise. To strap it to the bike I could close it and secure it fairly tightly and easily, but instead I open it, run the front flap back over the handlebars with the leather straps secured below it providing additional support and then the crossbody strap back over the seat for even more support and then I can use it as an improvised bike basket for my water bottle and phone cuz I'm constantly stopping for hydration and route check breaks.
