Not sure that plaque is still there, but good hiroty of Sir Sandford Flemming and creation of standard time zones. Prior to that, every city had its own time zone and railways had very very convoluted train schedules.

Road may look nice, but it is deceptive. At bottom of hill, the paved shoulder goes away, This was the tail of a passing lane with short stretch of shoulder after the right lane is supposed to have merged back to the left one. No shoulder on westbound traffic.
