The entire world already runs on the most dogshit quality code you'll never see because it's proprietary but it works and makes businesses successful so that's all that matters. If random people weren't allowed to look at code none of the current drama would really be happening. My wife has to use an application at work for updating patient records and everyone has been trained to "never press the Backspace key in the text input fields or it will corrupt the patient's record. Always go to the start of the word and use the Delete key." Worse than dogshit quality software right there, and they're paying like $10k/month for it and nobody will ever fix this. They're locked in now, it's not like they're going to just move to some new system handcrafted by an internet autist where every every memory allocation is lovingly caressed. The man who owns the business will never understand or care. This is a minor employee training issue for them, not a giant red flag. Computers have been failing them their whole lives, errors happen, they just accept it and move on. So I say to you: go forth and create dogshit software for every possible underserved market that exists, make a ton of money doing it, and have a secure retirement. Nobody's going to hand you your future on a silver platter anyway.
