EFF has been wrong about a solid number of things lately (mainly AI-related) but they’re still 100% spot-on when it comes to THIS. It was _awfully_ telling when Google decided “don’t be evil” was no longer a good rubric for decision-making. I feel utterly duped for having worked there so long (14 years!) and not knowing the kind of company I was _really_ helping to build with my little contributions back in the day. I can’t say I’d undo it if I could — it changed my life for the better in so many ways — but I have some complex regrets. (For those who don’t know me, I resigned in 2018 over an ethical impasse.)
