@Layan2002@mastodon.social @kathimmel@mstdn.social I have no doubt that if one puts in the effort they can sort the wheat from the chaff... But for casual users, soliciting money on a tool like mastodon is a free lunch ticket for scammers who game systems. I appreciate people want to help Gazans, but more harmful for the cause are the professional scammers who pretend to be Gazans and divert much needed money. Mastodon isn't designed for this, IMHO fundraising needs to be reputation based with banking integration.
