I've now put CachyOS on this iMac, and my god, it's a damn fine computer.
It's currently driving its own 27" 4k display, as well as my 28" 4K AOC display, and isn't breaking a sweat. I can't hear the fan at all, assuming it's even running. CachyOS was a piece of piss to install, and because the iMac has a Fusion drive, I've put /boot and /root on the 110gb SSD, and /home on the 1tb HDD, so it boots up in no time at all.

The only sticking point isn't actually the fault of this iMac at all: it's that there appears to be something up with my AOC display, because to match the brightness, I've had to knock the built in one back to 30%.
