@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org @roytoo@mstdn.social I lived in deep south texas for almost a decade, about half an hour from the US-Mexico border, a bit over an hour inland from the Gulf of Mexico. We had a few crows, sure, but we had millions of grackles.
Given that this part of Texas is very different from the rest in many ways, I thought of the grackles as being Texas crows. And they sounded like
CRKCRKCRK-K-K-K-K wwwwoooooooWWWWOOOOOOOP wwwwooooooOOOOOP ACK AKC ggggggggg
etc. They sounded like sci-fi things and they were awesome, especially when you had 10,000 of them at once in the trees and on the power lines around a grocery store parking lot.
