Meta announced a fix so your smart glasses can't be secretly used to record people. Same week, it's testing "always-on" glasses that record everyone, all the time, and may not even light the warning LED. Same week, Instagram opted your public photos into AI image generation by default. 🤔

@ppb1701@ppb.social as someone who builds model trains, I would bet a substantial amount of money, that I have the right paint and brushes to defeat the led and sensor. Thus, ultimately Meta hundred thousand dollars software fix loose is in an arms race against $1 of paint and, as you pointed out, no one at Meta asks why they are even doing it. (Outside of it being Zuckerberg's latest vanity project)
