To most, standalone devices that don't require connection to a computer or phone are incredibly freeing. use it wherever, however and whenever you like.
To the fully #blind, this is, more often than not, the death sentence to any chance of it being usable accessibly, because apps, computers etc. can offer a channel to read the usually inaccessible (touch) screen.
I have been pleasantly surprised about this NOT happening, maybe, 3-4 times in the last five years, most recently by a camera drone of all things.
Other than that though, we stick people in houses where they can't use the thermostat, the stove, the oven, the washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, AC if present, heck sometimes the doorlocks. And that is ... just fine and dandy.
In fact, it's US, people who LITERALLY can't open the DOOR of their own HOUSE, that they BOUGHT, that are considered outrageous for expecting this to work because well ...there's only five of us, too expensive.
Feels really great :)
