@inthehands@hachyderm.io @marick@mstdn.social agile evangelists will assure you that agile is a mindset, not a set of rules, methods, or procedures. way too many team leads, PMs, etc. didn't get that memo and treat it like the bible, including the blind faith and lack of consistent interpretations. it also doesn't do well in places with work that doesn't break up cleanly into 2 week intervals (i.e. months long time frames to do some tasks), nor does it handle blockers being other teams/code your team doesn't control. kanban, SAFE, and other efforts to rein this in tend to just add to the confusion.

@inthehands@hachyderm.io @marick@mstdn.social it's a pity, because the professed goals and ideas are useful as guidelines. a framework to let you chew apart a complex task into bit sized smaller tasks, figure out dependencies, not lose track of features/bugs, trying to express features in terms of users and use cases, that's all useful. but the world wanted "just do this and you have instant KPIs you can use to judge productivity and ration out money and promotions".
