Of course the first Chinese EV coming in to Canada is some high end expensive monster. Maybe Carney can afford one. Call me when the $CAD15,000 car shows up. https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/first-chinese-evs-arrive-in-canada-but-they-come-with-a-high-price-tag/ #carneyCon #EV #fakecapitalism #endfossilfuels #climateChaos

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca But gee, while the North American auto industry and plenty of their politicians raise the issue of privacy and security issues on Chinese vehicles they have remained silent on the same issue on NA vehicles... Gee, maybe a privacy standard that applies to applies to all is needed? https://www.consumerreports.org/electronics/personal-information/how-to-stop-your-car-from-collecting-sharing-driving-data-a1233378612/

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca With the limit at the number of vehicles, the business priority would be to sell the most profitable, and not waste that import limit on inexpensive (low profit) vehicles. The BYD Seagull is an inexpensive "family" vehcile. Which will sell more? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canada-remains-on-track-for-increased-low-tariff-chinese-ev-imports/ https://evsearch.ca/product/byd-seagull/
