anyway even if 100% of computer programmers *were* using AI, that wouldn't mean that AI is good or effective or worthwhile. could just mean that 100% of computer programmers are reckless shitheads

i mean, these are the people that invented server-side javascript and said nothing but "bacon" for five years or so around the turn of the 2010s

(all the regular caveats here for "my job makes me use it" and whatever niche workflows and local/open models etc, i know we're all out here doing our best in a hostile world and you're not a shithead for being too exhausted to keep your guard up all the time about this stuff. i just think that using "well everyone's doing it" as some kind of justification/vindication of claude code or whatever demonstrates a real lack of intention and attentiveness)
