#WritersCoffeeClub has been doing a series of questions about critique and constructive criticism, which I've largely been too busy/distracted to answer (oops). But it does seem like a relevant point to share the article I wrote a while back giving guidance on good critique:
https://red-pens-and-playwriting.ghost.io/the-key-to-good-critique/
I've shared it before, so a lot of you have probably read it. If not, have a squiz! It may be useful for you if you are in a position of providing critique for someone, or it might be useful to send to someone providing critique for you to give them parameters of focus.
The main points are below; you can read the article for more detail.
The key points for a good critique:
1. Don't provide an opinion piece
2. Point out the positives as well as the negatives
3. Be clear and constructive
4. Don’t try to fix things yourself
