Nigel Farage, the Clacton By-election and Count Binface. That thing where you resign, call an election to avoid being investigated, then the other parties decide not to participate and the only person who stands against you is Count Binface. https://www.containsmoderateperil.com/blog/2026/7/8/nigel-farage-the-clacton-by-election-and-count-binface #politics

  • @rogeredwards@gamepad.club This isn't really a jeopardy race for Farage. The Economist's model has Reform at 56% in Clacton vs Labour's 7% — the seat isn't at risk. Labour and the Tories called his bluff by refusing to field candidates, leaving him facing a non-politician with nothing to lose — free to expose his wrongdoing without fear of political payback. What he's actually risking: the £5M Harborne standards probe, unresolved by resigning, and looking small next to a man in a bin costume.

@rogeredwards@gamepad.club the whole thing is a farce. A count should not be standing up for a House of Commons seat.

@rogeredwards@gamepad.club Not gonna lie, kind of like Count Binface's drip.
