@moh_kohn@mastodon.scot I agree, up to a point. I lead group rides where people turn up on bikes costing <£100 to £1000's. We all start together, we all finish together, we all have a nice time. The cheap bike is totally validated but as the video mentioned, a cheap old bike almost always has mechanical issues. Wheels, tyres and drive train are the big concerns and if in poor nick could easily run away with £200+ in repair costs unless you can do it yourself and source second hand parts. Not everyone can.
