They don't produce emotion, real opinion, or even originality, just stuff. And we're being told that the pace of humanity in producing "stuff", "content", is the limiting factor and something to be overcome. That everyone's goal is "produce more, faster". You might produce visual art, or music. You could be a writer on all manner of topics. You might get on camera to tell jokes, or give opinion. Whatever you do, *please* respect yourself enough to call it what it is. It's *not* mere "content".

And FWIW, this started before the AI/LLM boom. The idea that what someone does is just produce, with no further description of what, is incredibly dystopian. The fact that someone would self-describe that way feels deeply depressing. Maybe I'm just a romantic, I don't know, but all the same - I think we can do much better.

@airadam@mastodon.me.uk Genuinely when I first heard the expression, I absolutely believed it was someone explicitly insulting. It was only later that I realized people intentionally use this for themselves. I still, within my own head, about certain people, use the term, but it's..not particularly complimentary. Basically lorem ipsum as it applies to a medium

@airadam@mastodon.me.uk That's a fair assessment, I know someone who was using a LLM to automatically generate a blog and text for a podcast, then used another system to automatically generate the sound for that podcast, and then publish it. At no point was it checked by a human (to my knowledge). Filler in its most fundamental form. The word "content" describes it perfectly.
